In goats Psoroptes cuniculi is known as the ``earcanker'' mite because of its predilection for the ear (causing otitis). Chorioptic mange occurs commonly in cattle, sheep and horses, and more rarely in goats. The Chorioptes mites are host specific and live on the surface of the skin. Generally, it is a less severe condition than psoroptic or sarcoptic mange. Lesions consist of alopecia, erythrema, excoriations and (small) crusts associated with pruritus. The mites have a predilection for the perineum, udder, caudal areas of thigh, rump and feet.

Haemonchus contortus infects mainly sheep and goats, while H. placei occurs mainly in cattle.
